CEO Jan Larkin
Volunteers have been the life blood of Nightsafe for over 30 years and they massively contribute to the work we do in supporting our young people.
We have been fortunate to welcome volunteers from all over the World in addition to those who live more locally and are wanting to make a difference in the lives of others while gaining valuable experience.
Our volunteers bring a wealth of enthusiasm and creativity. From all backgrounds and all ages, each one helps our young people thrive and achieve and equally importantly have a lot of fun along the way!
Faith Marriot MBE – Operations Manager
Volunteers are a key part of our work; they bring valuable life skills and have time to give our young people much needed support and encouragement.
As the Covid restrictions start to relax, I am looking at how we can further develop our volunteers within the organisation.
As we move forward, we have a great opportunity to reshape their involvement.
Meet Our volunteer Janet
Hi, my name is Janet and I have been a volunteer with Nightsafe for almost 3 years. I am a Hairdresser by trade, in fact taught the craft for many years, and now in my 60’s, retired and time on my hands. It has been an eye opener coming into Nightsafe, a real education. The staff here have helped me make the most of my skills, to help where I can, cutting hair and cooking. Changing the way young people feel about themselves can start with a simple haircut, image change, clean clothes, and a chat!
During the pandemic, it has been even harder for some of our young people and street homeless. Pods for living in have been available but many are vulnerable due to loneliness.
We need more volunteers in all areas of the Charity. If you know anyone with time on their hands and a desire to help, please tell them about Nightsafe.
Believe me, the return I receive from being a volunteer far outweighs anything I feel I give.

Anchor Avenue – Making A House A Home
Nightsafe needs your help – and we need it NOW! We are calling on businesses and individuals to transform a shell of a property into a bright modern home for five young people who have faced homelessness In a DIY SOS-style operation we are appealing for businesses and retailers to donate goods and furniture, trades and volunteers to offer their time; and monetary donations to help fund and furnish the project. The house in Anchor Avenue, Darwen, was bought by a generous supporter but is in dire need of renovation.
