Billy is a qualified gym instructor and has volunteered with Nightsafe for three months. He has already engaged the young people in sessions on site, teaching Boxercise and fitness. Billy is looking forward to being able to take them out to the gym, going walking as well as teaching them life skills.
Volunteers have been the life blood of Nightsafe for over 30 years and they massively contribute to the work we do in supporting our young people.
Volunteers week is special for us at Nightsafe. We have been supporting young homeless people for over 30 years and I’m reminded that people say ‘Time’ is the greatest gift you can give and Time is indeed what our Volunteers gift to us.
Crown Paints lent their support to Nightsafe - with a generous donation of paint and equipment as well as time towards our charity’s refurbishment of the emergency night shelter. The team of six volunteers from Crown, based in Darwen, joined a further six from Blackburn Round Table, giving up their time over the course of a weekend.
As a local charity which provides support to vulnerable young people who are likely to be in the ‘at risk’ groups from the Covid-19 coronavirus, our priority is to safeguard the health and wellbeing of young people in our local community and that of our staff and volunteers. As such, in line with official guidance, we are now moving to the next stage of our response plan.
Prestige Beds are helping those at Nightsafe sleep easier at night – by donating £10 from every Alma mattress sold to the charity.
