Jimmy
When he saw the advert for the Blackburn 10K, Jimmy knew this was just the challenge he was looking for, and Nightsafe was the perfect charity to spur him along.
Jimmy said “Earlier this year I needed a focus, something to get me motivated back into running and a local 10K was the perfect answer. As a teenager I came very close to becoming homeless, I think the thought of being alone on the streets with nowhere safe to stay made me change my behaviour, so Nightsafe was my immediate charity of choice”
Jimmy has created a JustGiving page, and his aim is to raise £400 which will provide 10 nights accommodation in Nightsafe’s Emergency Night Shelter.
“Thinking back to my time as a teenager, the idea that I can support the Emergency Night Shelter and provide 10 nights accommodation during the hardest time of the year means a lot. I really hope the good people of Blackburn will get behind me”
Katie
At the start of 2021 Youth Worker Katie’s New Year resolutions included completing a 10K run and raising money for a charity supporting young people. On Sunday (12th December 2021) she will have ticked both those off her list by running the Blackburn 10K in aid of Nightsafe.
“I work with young people and see on a daily basis the amazing support Nightsafe offers those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. I regularly hear great stories from young people who have visited the day centre for a hot meal, the company of other young people and support from the staff”
“I am not a regular runner which is why I set it as one of my personal goals for this year, and am proud to be able to do it for a local charity”
