Swimming with sharks at any age sounds scary, but imagine if your child announced they wanted to do it? This was exactly what 8 year old Jenson did whilst he was watching the television with his parents.

After mentioning it a few more times his parents suggested he use some of his Christmas money to book a dive at Blue Planet Aquarium in Cheshire and to make it more interesting Jenson made it a sponsored event and chose Nightsafe as the recipient.

Daniel, Jenson’s dad, said “Jenson is so kind and generous. When he sees homeless people he always buys them a coffee and at Easter he wanted to take them all an Easter Egg. Nightsafe was the perfect charity for him to fundraise for”

On the day of the dive Jenson showed no nerves and was keen to get into the water.

Daniel said “Jenson is fascinated with sharks and wasn’t nervous when he did the dive. We booked him a Junior Shark dive and he showed no fear at all!! He started in the training pool where he was taught how to communicate with the instructor and then they went off for a swim. There is a viewing tunnel that we could walk through and watch him, he was having the best time ever!”

Jan Larkin, Nightsafe CEO said “Without a shadow of a doubt this is one the most unusual challenges someone has undertaken to raise funds for us here at Nightsafe! What an amazing young person, we are very grateful to Jenson. His challenge has raised much needed funds for us and I’m sure it was an experience to remember and not one many of us would like to replicate – A big well done and huge thanks from us all here at Nightsafe.

Jenson’s fundraising target was £50 which he has absolutely smashed, at the last count it stood at £505. If you would like to show your support for this amazing Nightsafe Hero, please click on the button below.
