About The John Bury Trust
The John Bury Trust was formed by Jack Bury OBE and his daughter Pam when they were Mayor and Mayoress of Blackburn with Darwen in 2000/2001. The trust was set up to enable John Bury, known as Jack, to continue the work with young people in the Borough that he held close to his heart
The trust’s ethos is the promote the mental, moral and physical development and improvement of young people between the ages of 10 and 25 years.
Pam Clarkson has continued as Chairman of the John Bury Trust alongside a team of fantastic volunteers to support young people within the borough of Blackburn with Darwen.
The charity continues to generate money for local good causes through annual balls, fundraising events including quiz nights, runs and race nights, and a regular bonus ball lottery draw.
How and Why The John Bury Trust Support Nightsafe
Each year, The John Bury Trust donates £1200 to Nightsafe to buy personal hygiene products for young girls who access the services. This includes personal hygiene products such as period products, sexual health products, pregnancy tests and knickers.
Pam said: “Nightsafe is everything dad believes we should be supporting. We earmark money every year to support Nightsafe, and have done for many years.
“We wanted to help the charity, and with Nightsafe, we helped to identify something that costs lots of money but is desperately needed for young ladies in the borough.
“Nightsafe is very important to all the trustees. We know people who have seen homelessness first hand and it’s a charity we all want to support.”
