Blackburn Chemicals is a family business, established in 1972. They supply chemicals globally into all sorts of production facilities like paper mills, and work with brands like McCain, PepsiCo, and chemicals for practically every tin of paint in the UK and Europe.

Blackburn Chemicals has supported Nightsafe since 2011.

Jack Lamb, Sales Manager, said: “We want to have a positive impact on the local community that has served us well for over 50 years. It’s my grandfather’s wish that that continues.

“We support local charities that make a positive impact on the community. Our company charity commission was set up about five years ago to ensure we continue to support good causes in our community.

As well as a financial contribution, the generous business and its employees regularly donate food – and Jack himself has just donated his own PlayStation for the young people to use in the Emergency Night Shelter after a recent visit.

Jack and some of his team visited the Day Centre and Night Shelter and were surprised at the range of services and facilities on offer.

Jack said: “It was really eye opening so see what’s happening around the corner and the range of people who rely on the support of Nightsafe.

“All the staff and volunteers make each young person feel like a person, not a charity case. It was a really lovely positive environment. It’s so much more than just a bed for the night.”
