Lacy's Story

Lacy, aged 19 came to us in the Night Shelter after sofa surfing for several months at various friend’s house. She was not welcome back home after an argument with family.
Lacy has mild learning difficulties and is very softly spoken, which did at times make it hard to tell what Lacy was discussing with us.

Lacy

Lacy was very clear about what she would and wouldn’t do with other young people and didn’t partake in any form of drug or alcohol whilst she was with us.

Lacy was referred to various supported living accommodation and got an interview at three of the referrals for supported housing. Lacy attended all interviews and got offered a place at one of our Nightsafe projects and another project in Blackburn.

Lacy enjoyed cooking with the staff and paying card games with other young people and staff whist attending the Day Centre. Lacy was very clear about what she would and wouldn’t do with other young people and didn’t partake in any form of drug or alcohol whilst she was with us. Lacy stayed with us for over a month waiting for the interviews and then waiting for her place to be ready.

Lacy is very capable but can come across very different due to her being very quiet. She decided on the Blackburn project as it meant she would have her own flat.
Lacy moved out and was given a food parcel, toiletry parcel, bedding and towels to take with her and often visits the day centre and looks happy.
