Adam's Story

I live in the Anchor Avenue project which is in Darwen, and I’ve lived there for almost two years in January. This place has helped me a lot in many different ways. It’s helped with my independence. It’s also helped me understand me for who I really am and it’s given me a vast of opportunities.

I live in the Anchor Avenue project which is in Darwen, and I’ve lived there for almost two years in January. This place has helped me a lot in many different ways. It’s helped with my independence. It’s also helped me understand me for who I really am and it’s given me a vast of opportunities.

I was at my brother’s house and it didn’t work out so I moved into a friend’s house and college referred me to here and probably the best idea possible. It was the hardest thing I’ve been through in my life because I felt embarrassed for being here. And it’s not the greatest position to be in at first, but then you look at it from your point of view and you think, well, actually there’s worse situations than being here and if I wasn’t here then where would I be?

I think I might have gone down the route of being on the streets, which is not what you want in your life. And this is why this place is such a gift to people in that situation. I want to help Nightsafe in any way I can. And I think me talking about my experiences will help others to be comfortable enough to come here to get that help they need to succeed in life.
